Our partner in Tanzania focuses on breaking the poverty cycle in a particular slum region in Tanzania through education. Their mission is 'Watoto Kwanza' -  a swahili slogan meaning 'children come first'. They aim to give children priority to over-come their individual hurdles to gain a better start in life. 

With an extremely high unemployment rate of 90%, poor sanitation and health conditions, as well as high rates of malaria and HIV, attending school in Kawe is a luxury that most children cannot afford.

There are several hundred orphans living within the community, many of them left to fend for themselves after one or both parents has passed away from complications associated with HIV. Currently, most of these poverty stricken children lack the financial support to attend school.

Completed projects include:

• Helped offset the medical costs of a child brought in from a partner organization in Tanzania.

By working with local partners GVN Foundation is able to have a direct impact on the projects it supports. Together with our partners in the Tanzania we constantly strive to find sustainable, innovative solutions to local problems.  However, we rely entirely upon donors like you who recognize that change always begins with individuals. Please make a donation to help us with our current projects.

Please note your donation will go into a 'general projects fund' to be used to assist our partner. In all instances we strive to send funds to the stated program above but in the event of a greater need or change in program needs GVNF will determine the destination of funds.
