La Hesperia
Partner:
La Hesperia Biological Station & Reserve recently established an Elementary School that focuses on providing education to the local children. They are now fundraising for two key projects.
First, they are working towards creating a sustainable school by designing sustainable programs and providing an interactive course for the local children to create organic gardens. The products of these gardens will then be sold at a local market later on to help support the school.
Second, they are planning on establishing a library for the children at the school and the children's nursery. This library will provide educational materials to enable the children to expand their knowledge and improve their reading skills.
Alexandra from La Hesperia says that sustainable development is closely linked to education:
“At the station we work on three interdependent and mutually reinforcing pillars of sustainable development: environmental protection, economic development and social development. In order to achieve these aims, education is essential—not only as isolated environmental education activities but as an integral system, starting with children of a young age, to encourage their environmental consciences, leadership, and respect of human rights. The staff at the new school will accompany the children throughout this amazing process."
We need your help:
By working with local partners GVN Foundation is able to have a direct impact on the day-to-day lives of children in Ecuador. Together with La Hesperia we also constantly strive to find sustainable, innovative solutions to local problems. However, we rely entirely upon donors like you who recognize that change always begins with individuals. Please make a donation to help us with our current projects.
90% of your donation (minus WorldPay fees) will directly reach our partner. The remaining 10% will be used to fund the GVN Foundation's administrative and program costs associated with processing your donation, generating your receipt, and reviewing the distribution of funds.
Please note your donation will go into a 'general projects fund' to be used to assist our partner. In all instances we strive to send funds to the stated program above but in the event of a greater need or change in program needs GVNF will determine the destination of funds. By proceeding you agree with the Foundation's refund policy as stated in our legal terms of service
