Emergency Relief - Philippines

philippines
Typhoon Ketsana has rampaged through the Philippines, killing over 330 people and forcing millions to flee their homes. Officials have reported that 2.3 million people had their homes flooded, and 400,000 were seeking help in relief centers.

Raymund Villanueva CERV’s co-founder and GVN partner sent us the following message:

“Residents of the affected areas are shell-shocked. We stare at a nightmare and it is unbelievably painful. We run around cleaning up, checking up on relatives and friends. The only way we can move beyond our grief is to go on autopilot and pick up and throw away mementos of memories worth lifetimes. A couple of our beneficiary schools are hit hard-one completely washed away. CERV's dorm was flooded and furniture, equipment were either damaged or lost.” - Raymund

CERV seeks to help Filipino communities better their quality of life. They are based in Quezon City and work both in the marginalized communities of the capital Metro Manila and in Romblon, one of the Philippines’ poorest provinces.
