Vietnam Baby Orphanage Donation
During the summer I worked as a volunteer at 'The Home of Affection and 'The Tam Ky Baby Orphanage' in a town called Tam Ky which is 70 kilometres south of Da Nang.
The main role of volunteers at 'The Home of Affection' is to teach English. There is a desperate shortage of writing books and pencils and the volunteers provide what they can together with visual aids, colouring books and board games.
The facilities at the Baby Orphanage, which cares for approximately 30 children aged from a few weeks to 15 years of age, are very limited. There are up to 15 babies at any one time. With only a large central play area and adjoined group bedrooms, the layout of the building makes division into classrooms very difficult. The children desperately need vaccinations to protect them, these are extremely expensive and even the most basic medical treatment such as that for heat boils is considerably beyond the funds available to the orphanage.
I found working at Tam Ky extremely rewarding, everyone concerned works so hard to try to improve life for the children, raising money for these basic provisions which we take for granted would really make such a difference. Please donate what you can; GVN will ensure that every penny goes direct to the orphanages.
