"I'd love to see more young people taking action to help the poor and disadvantaged. Two places to get started are Network for Good and Global Volunteer Network."

Huchuq Yachaq Project
The Project of the Month is an initiative which puts one of our projects in the spotlight for a month to help raise awareness and funds for a specific cause. For July, we are supporting Huchuy Yachaq in Peru by promoting their wonderful handmade pens! If you donate $20 or more, you will receive two free pens: one for you and one for your friend. All of the pens have been hand-made by members of the mothers group in Huchuy Yachaq. Each one is unique and made with love.
The funds raised will be used to provide further training to the mothers group in Huchuy Yachaq, including the expansion of a jewellery-making workshop. Huchuy Yachaq is a community center located on the outskirts of the city of Cusco, Peru. It serves a community of 200 families that suffer from a number of challenges relating to accessibility issues, lack of basic facilities, unstable housing, and social problems.
Before Huchuq Yachaq, many of these women did not have guaranteed income. Along with their husbands, they had to work long hours for little money meaning their children would be left at home for long periods of time. The mothers group provides an opportunity for mothers to become small business owners letting them have an improved income and more time to spend with their children. By expanding this group, more women will be able to provide an income for themselves and their families.
Note: the pens can only be shipped to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US due to shipping costs. They will be shipped at the end of July.
