An inspiring way to take action! Good food, great people, amazing projects.
What is Eat So They Can?
Eat So They Can is a delicious way to take action! There are 925 million undernourished people in the world today. That means one in seven people do not get enough food to be healthy and
lead an active life.
Eat So They Can is an initiative of Global Volunteer Network and GVN Foundation. The concept is simple - host a dinner party, raise awareness about world hunger, collect donations, and become a part of the solution to end world hunger. We believe all our small actions can combine in a powerful way - ending world hunger one dinner party at a time!
Nutrition is one of many issues making up the complexity of life in poverty. But, we believe good nutrition can have many flow-on effects. It's the simple beginning to ending poverty.
Health: Hunger and malnutrition are responsible for 2.6 million child deaths per year. The health impacts of a poor diet or lack of food carry on throughout life, and lead to increased healthcare costs in the future.
Economy: It's hard to work on a hungry tummy! Malnourished workers are ineffective, and malnutrition costs the global economy $3.5 trillion per year.
Future Impacts: A healthy, nourished child has the energy to learn, explore, discover and grow! Taking advantage of educational opportunities when they are able to concentrate in class with a full tummy improves their future prospects.
